Regaining Focus
Tuesday 16 October 2007 at 07:22 amIt is very easy to forget what your focus is in ministry, In Mission Raleigh we have been called to reach many at-risk communities in Raleigh. In reaching those communities we have started ministries such as furniture, clothes and food to help meet needs and show the love of Jesus within our communities. There are much needs outside of our communities and the name of Mission Raleigh has grown across the city. The only problem is that it stretches us beyond what God has provided for us to do. Then the precious few missionaries that we have is spending time doing social ministry at the cost of gospel ministry. The one thing I have learned is taking a piece of furniture or a bag of food to someone you may never see again and saying “Jesus has provided this for you.” is not the Great Commission.
That being said Mission Raleigh will be about reaching our mission points. This will change the way we do the food ministry, Christmas, Thanksgiving, benevolence and most of our social ministries. It will not be an easy change but it is the right thing to do.
