Visitation is vital to multi housing ministry. Taking time to go and visit and listen to your people is one of greatest ways to show that you love and care about them.
There are 4 types of visitation.
Intentional Evangelism: This is a time of visitation where we go expressly with the intention to share how to be saved with the people in our communities.
Follow Up from Kid’s Club This is a great way to visit. Every week we should visit the family of at least one of the children and/or youth who attended a club that week. You knock on the door and say, “Thank you for letting DaShaun come to Kid’s Club, he is such a great kid and we look forward to seeing him each week.” Our parents rarely hear how good their children are and it helps us to build that family relationship. On the first visit like this you should say something like, “Can we take a moment and tell you what we are teaching him at Youth Nite or Kid’s Club.” This is a great intro into sharing the Gospel with the family.
Survey Visit This is a time when we go and find out what the community perceives as their greatest needs. This is a time of find out individual needs as well as community needs. Then we take what we learn and figure out how to share the Gospel while meeting that need.
Just Visiting It is very important that sometimes we go and visit without an agenda. We stop by a friend’s house and just visit and chat while of course seasoning our conversation with the Gospel. |
